Serving the Lord through Camps
No, they are not twins, but it is amazing how close their story is. Rowan began going to our Child Evangelism Fellowship’s Children’s Bible Club (CBC) camp in 1983 as a young teenager. He was the “Best camper” for 1983-1984. In 1986 he became a Junior Counsellor. From then, he moved up. For the past three years, he has been the camp director! His wife and children are also much a part of camp life. Rowan and his family fellowship at Lyndhurst Gospel Assembly. He is a banker and his wife a Sales Representative. The driving force behind his faithfulness is being happy in serving the Lord and working among the children.
Lance began going to camp in 1985 as a young teenager. Camp has become a part of him all through the years. So committed was he that he invited Paulette (his friend who later became his wife ) to assist and now the entire family is a part of camp life. Asked why he was so committed, Lance said that he knows he can make an impact on the children’s lives and it is a joy to lead them to Christ.
For Lance, there was no doubt in his mind that 2005’s CBC would again be a part of their family life. However, he had just begun a new job. Would this be the end of his 19 year camp record? He made a decision. His new boss was happy with that decision, no pay leave and Lance and his family were once again free to go to camp.
Two brothers, one vision - to reach boys and girls for Christ through Camps.
